Nia’s “Boing, Boing, Boing…” Video (3:20 )

It is widely known around Sheridan School that Nia is an expert on the pogo stick. So it is no wonder that she wanted to research the history of the pogo stick. Because she had already completed a couple of great VoiceThread projects, she first thought about this as a VoiceThread project, too. After only a few minutes, we decided it might be even better as a video project.

My Favorite Martian

Anyone out there old enough to remember “My Favorite Martian?” It was one of my most favorite television shows when I was a kid – way before 100+ cable channels, remote control channel changers and infomercials.

Thanks, in part to the Mars Rover expedition, there is a renewed interest in the red planet. And as you will hear, Patrick does a stellar job sharing information about one of his favorite topics, Mars.

The Power of Storytelling

As we hear in Katherine’s VoiceThread project about her dog Buster, not only is digital storytelling fun, it can also help us confront difficult issues and deal with our feelings.

Not much else to say here except thanks to Katherine for sharing her story.

The Power of Publishing

The more students see other students work with VoiceThread, the more students want to get involved in producing their own projects. Our students have learned that research, editing and publishing online can be fun!

We are reminded that when students are passionate about what they are learning they become self-directed learners and motivated to create interesting and informative projects.

And they are excited to share what they have learned. Enjoy Lauren’s VoiceThread report…

Six-Word Stories – Challenging and Fun

Using images of snow as their prompt, students wrote the following Six-Word Stories. In the beginning they thought that it would be an easy activity since they only needed to come up with six words. But they soon found out that writing a Six-Word Story can be a challenge. Enjoy!

Your students’ casts are very interesting. I would like my students to learn how to make them, where do we start? I am a teacher in Mexico City. Congratulations! Thanks.

    Dear OB,

You did a really great job on your VT. I think you explained hunting very well. I bet you would be a good hunter. When I was 10 we found several arrowheads in our garden in CT. I can’t imagine how an arrowhead would kill and animal, but they did.
